my life — my way

2007 Cruise - Sat

After spending yesterday driving from Maryland to South Carolina we were ready to get it on. A little after noon we boarded the ship. We were traveling on the Norwegian Majesty. It wasn't big compared to other cruise lines, but with ten decks, you can't really say it was small either. After finding our cabins on the fourth deck my parents, Olga and I walked the ship. After getting acquainted with the layout we sat down at a window to relax. Looking out into the water we saw ripples every few minutes. There were dolphins out there, waiting to send us off in style.

The first thing Olga and I did was sign up for massages. We had decided that we both wanted to treat each other to a massage for an early Valentine's Day gift. So as the ship was leaving port, the two of us were up in the spa getting hot rock massages. It was heaven. The only thing that would have made it better is if they did couples massages and we could have done it together.

Once we were relaxed and limbered up we ran below decks to grab a quick shower in order to make it to dinner on time. Our little group had decided that we would eat dinner together every night in order to catch up with each other and spend quality time together (this was a good type of quality time). This was the start on my dinner tradition. I decided that all week I would eat two desserts after dinner. Forget the hokie-pokie. Dessert is what it's all about.

After dinner we went upstairs to the theater and enjoyed the preview show. The different acts that would be playing this week put on a little preview of their shows. There were two juggler/comedians who put on a great show - Shark Bait.

Greg, Meredith, Olga and I finished the evening out going dancing. The first place we stopped was full of old people dancing to cheesy music. So we moved on. The next club area was practically empty. There was a keyboardist, a singer and the four of us. We started out sitting there and listening, and we were joined by another couple.

Then Greg got up.
And walked onto the dance floor.
He winded up the lasso.
It flew threw the air into our little group.
He had me.
I couldn't help it.
I was pulled (against my will) onto the dance floor.
The freaky dance began.
Everyone was amused (except me).

Luckily Olga and Meredith came and rescued me. The four of us spent the rest of the night ‘dancing’.
