2007 Cruise - Tues
Today is our first port destination!!!
Olga and I ended up sleeping in longer than we planned, but as soon as we got up we headed out to fun and adventure on Grand Cayman Island. We spent a few minutes in the port and quickly decided that we wanted to hit the beach. Seven Mile Beech, to be exact. So we started walking towards the beach. It didn't look far. So we kept walking. We looked up, and it still didn't look far. So we kept walking. And walking.
After thirty minutes of walking we caught a cab that drove us to the beach. We laid out in the sun for about an hour, then decided to head back. We had our cab stop at a shopping mall halfway between the beach and the port. We wanted to pick up a few souvenirs and figured the mall would be cheaper than the port where all the cruise ships let people off. We grabbed a few things, then picked up another cab to take us back to port. We walked around there for a while until it was time to head back to the ship.
It was lunch time when we got back on board. Olga and I headed up to the top deck and grabbed a small meal. It was ok, but not all that great. We decided that the meals from the main dinning halls was really good, but the rest of the food was like cafeteria food. Not all that impressive.
I still hadn't mastered my dance moves, so Olga dragged me to another dance class after lunch. It was with different teachers this time. We did Caribbean line dancing. I wasn't impressed. I think the teacher was making it up as we went along.
My hips weren't shaking enough in dance class, so Meredith, Olga and I went over to the bar to get something to loosen me up. We had a few drinks and hung out for a little while.
Tonight's dinner was at the french restaurant. I felt extremely drowsy. I think it was the combination of the sun and drinks that did me in. I don€'t remember much about that dinner, except I had duck and it was really hard to eat. I might have repressed the memories because it was in a french restaurant. Who knows?
The evening was filled with rest time and topped off with a trip to the upper decks to view the Miss Norwegian pageant. The pageant consisted of three guys getting taken below deck by their female 'friends'. The men were dressed like women, then brought back up for the pageant. Some of them did a pretty good job. The guy who won was a retired Baptist preacher. He beat a kindergarten teacher and a cop.
