My Time Has Come

Olga inspired this song. One night it was getting late, but I was still being chatty. She was done, so she looked at me and said, "Chris, my time has come." Then she rolled over and went to sleep. The phrase stayed with us, and now it's a song.

Fade Away

A while ago I read a book where the author pretended to be a hard core drug user. OK book, but the style inspired me to write something about fading away. The last song I wrote was about killing someone out of anger and jealousy. After I finished it I decided that I was not really down with writing violent songs. Live and learn, I guess. So in this song I did not want to talk about fading away in a bad sense, I wanted it to be a positive song. It is about letting you ego fade away and giving your spirit room to open up and grow.

I started out this song wanting to do some time signature changes. I also wanted to whisper something on the chorus. The whispers came without a lot of effort. In the beginning there were a lot of time signature changes in the verse, but they screwed with the feel of the song. Out the door they went (mostly).

When it was time to do solos I opted for my keyboard. The main driving force for that was laziness. When I am sitting at the computer my guitar is a few feet away, so I would have to get out of the chair to get it. The keyboard is right there. It was not really a difficult decision.

The Other Day

This song was inspired from playing Killzone on my playstation. Nothing better than shooting stuff. I'm not overjoyed with my singing abilities, but man do those guitar solos rock!

Are You Gonna Go My Way

Written by Lenny Kravitz

Finished on Jan 1, 2006
3 mins 28 secs — 4.8 megs

A demo tape song, with me on guitar. I don't really like the song, but the other guys almost wet themselves when they heard our recording. I admit that our recording kicks ass, but that goes without saying. We were a kick ass band.

Hard To Handle

Written by Lou Reed
Performed by Splintered Image

Finished on Jan 1, 2006
3 mins — 4.4 megs

A demo tape song, with me on guitar. I like this song a lot more now than I did before I joined the band. At our first gig, when we played this the crowd started singing along. There's a part where it's just vocals and live that part was always great, because we could hear the crowd singing with us. Lots of love for playing this song live.

Slide

A dmeo tape song, with me on the keys. I used to think this was a little froo-froo song. You listen to it while you drink something that has an umbrella sticking out of the glass. Weak. Now I've changed my mind. Ok, maybe it's still a froo-froo song, but I had a lot of fun plauing it on the piano.

Help

I play everything in this recording. I sing too. I've always thought that this is a great song. One day, years ago, I decided to cover it. But I didn't want to do a whimpy froo-froo cover. I wanted the song to have balls, because it's a ballsy song. Ergo the kick-ass guitar in the song. I tried to talk my old band into doing a cover like this, but they couldn't handle it.

It's an ok recording. Could've been better, but I'm ok with it as it sits right now.
